chapter 7: leverage

The next morning, Kate had already left for the headquarters before anyone even woke, she has already been dreaming the life of a supervisor, she would command anyone like aunt kerry, enough of hard work like aunt Kerry, she would have influence on many workers like aunt Kerry, she would love or hate at will like aunt kerry, she could even work from home like aunt kerry, so I'll become like aunt Kerry, all these thoughts made her love Aunt Kerry the more, oh! it's good to be a supervisor she said within herself.

Jane got to her office on that day only to pack her belongings to everyone's surprise, the letter she received on her last day with boss was actually a sack letter, she was fired.

It was evident enough but it seems she has cried out her pains in the night because she didn't look any sober, she even laughed with everyone and cracked jokes as usual, she's temporarily out of the game with Peter and kate aunt Kerry thought.

Later in the evening, Kate called aunt Kerry who wouldn't pick for an unknown reason, then she sent a message thus:

"hi, I don't know why you wouldn't pick my call, I'm having an issue here concerning someone who seem to be your Superior, I tried to explain to him but he kept saying that you understand and he said I wouldn't start anything without having an affair with me, I mean sexual affair.

I want you to help me get in touch with him and explain that I'm your in-law.

please call me when you are less busy, thanks".

Kerry called her immediately and she excitedly detailed everything to her expecting a good turnout.

well, as you can see, the person is superior to me as you said, so tell me, how do I command my superior? I did everything for you when you were under my belt, now the condition is beyond my power, sometime you have to take the good with the bad and smile when you are sad, it's a process of upliftment after all, just like he did to you, you can do to anyone under you only when you get what it takes, it's the secret of success and if you are still wondering why I hate people, then you have your answer, or weren't you dreaming to be like me? aunt kerry replied.

So what do you suggest I do? she asked, think about the benefits and do the next right thing Kerry replied.

But what about Peter? won't he be cheated? she asked again, Peter is my nephew I'll handle that side unless you tell him yourself and it's not intentional in the first place, kerry gave a comforting reply, ok I'll see you when I get back Kate concluded and the conversation was dusted.

It was three days to the exam, the boss again sent for Kate, my little aspiring supervisor he started, Kerry actually called and begged on your half but my terms are clear and firm, plus your job might even be on the line for involving a third party so are we on the same page? he asked mockingly.

Yes sir she said in agreement.

Yes that's my girl, we'll have fun today, you'll study tomorrow and then you'll sit for the exam the next day, go freshen up and let's have a great day together he said excitedly.

The venue was X-tan lounge, one of the exotic places in the town, she ate and drank to her satisfaction, it's unlike her to dance so they lodge into a first class room.

All the while, Peter was trying to reach Jane but couldn't, it seems she has changed her line as she threatening, how do I reach this girl? he kept asking himself, and I promised her a lot of talks, this is too heavy on me, I can't bear the burden anymore, I have to tell someone and it's Jane, not anyone else, I'm not a bad boy she thinks I am, I just have to comply, I love my wife and she loves me as well, she must be going through a lot seeing her husband on another girl, well she have to keep to it because she made it happen, whatever that has time must surely come to an end I know for sure.

But how do I get in touch with her? oh yes, I'll send her letters, we talked about that as an alternative to phone.

I'll surely reach out to her and my mind will be free he concluded.

Aunt Kerry who went for her final treatment on the same day as kate returned a day before Kate's arrival, she is now free again to be herself, nothing bothers her anymore, she has no reason to hate anyone anymore, by now she wished she hadn't spoilt things for Jane but it can't be reversed, the damage has been done and she even wished she could take back all she's done to Kate as well, she even wished she hadn't hated anyone in the past, she is now happy but sad as well, wounds were healed but bad memories remained there permanently.
